In just a month of publishing The Wood Log, I’ve received kind words from friends and family. Thank you! It truly encourages me to continue writing. Which is why I’m writing this. I’m trying hard to make this a weekly post. This week’s post is a quick update as I continue writing the next one, the wedding. As I get through some of these bigger events, I’ll most likely be making smaller updates about our adventures with Rosalie.
This week the three of us are traveling. We’re visiting both sets of grandparents in Illinois, and then we’ll be heading to Texas via train. This will be a fun trip we get to share with Rosalie. Flying is not something Leanne and I are particularly fond of, and driving all that way with Rosalie strapped into a car seat just doesn’t sound enjoyable. This way we’ll be able to move freely and just relax. Leanne and I took the train to Glenwood Springs, Colorado for our honeymoon back in 2022.
Small useless fact, the last 4 times I’ve ridden a train, it’s been in October. In 2015 and 2016, I took the train from Indianapolis to Chicago. Then our honeymoon in 2022 to Colorado. And now our trip to Texas. All in October.
I am hoping to use some of this train trip to get some more writing in. I did some writing on the train on our way back from Colorado, but there’s one new variable with this trip that may prevent me from getting our wedding blog post done, Rosalie.
And speaking of Rosalie, she just keeps getting funner and funner. Today I had to watch Rosalie a bit. She was fussy and wanted to do things I couldn’t let her do. I started showing this video of her that I had made of her first year. This video is nearly 30 minutes long. She was so enthralled that I couldn’t help but watch her expression while she watched her life from the beginning to a year old. Her face would light up when she saw both of us on the screen together, she’d wave at herself when she was waving to the camera, she’d giggle when she was giggling, she’d sway side-to-side when mommy was playing the piano, she’d get close to the screen to get a better view, and she would put her arms up in the air whenever she saw mommy and her. She was very animated. I wished I’d had another camera on me to just capture her watching this video. Just watching her watch this video made me tear up a bit. Rosalie has turned me into a softy.
With that, that’s this week’s post. The next big blog posts I’m planning on writing are the story of our wedding, Rosalie’s birth, and everything that’s happened in 2024. It’s been a lot. We’ll see if I get the wedding post done for next week. If not, I’ll update you with our experience of the train trip that we’re currently on. Thanks again!
Are you by any chance going to Abilene?
Hi, Janet! Leanne here! Unfortunately we won’t have time to get to Abilene on this trip because I have to be back at work on Tuesday. 🙁 One of these days I want to get back there and visit everybody! Have you been to Abilene lately?
